Glaucoma

Introduction

Glaucoma is the name for a group of eye disease that damage the optic nerve 1. They can lead to loss of peripheral vision, blind spots, and blindness 1. People with glaucoma have a field of vision that resembles looking through a narrow tube, or having tunnel vision 2

As of 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that 7.7 million people worldwide have glaucoma 3. People with diabetes have twice the risk of getting glaucoma than people without diabetes 4.
