Goal
Ensure that users have a consistent sense of place within the site by naming pages or functions, and the links that go to those pages or functions, consistently.
Why this matters
If a page is entitled “Contact Us” for example, and the link from one page says “Contact” while another link in another location reads “About us” the user may not be able to tell how many pages are actually in the site or where precisely they are currently located in the navigation.
How to implement
Writers
Read Links.
Developers
- Ensure you are using the content provided by your Writer when building links.
- If links across multiple areas don’t look consistently named or you see something unusual, bring it up with your Writer to determine which is right and make any necessary corrections.
How to test
For a given page A, navigate to all of the pages that link to A and ensure they have consistent names.
