WCAG 2.1 contrast checkers
These testers use the current WCAG 2.1 and lower formulas for determining if a color matches the 3:1 or 4.5:1 contrast ratios outlined in the guidelines.
- WebAIM Contrast Checker – my personal favorite.
- Text on background image a11y check – helps you check whether text placed on an image will be accessible.
- EightShapes Contrast Grid – allows you to compare large lists of colors to identify which combinations are accessible
- Deque Color Contrast Analyzer
- Tanaguru Contrast Finder – provides suggestions for colors that would be accessible if your current results are not
APCA Contrast Testers
These testers use the Advanced Perception of Color Algorithm to determine if colors pass. Note that APCA is still being tweaked and won’t be official until at least WCAG 3.0.
